Another PUBG Game Cancelled - Krafton Pulls the Plug on Time-Looping Extraction Shooter Black Budget Following an Internal Review
Krafton said testing failed to meet its standards, ending the extraction shooter after about a year in development.
On October 1, Krafton announced the cancellation of PUBG: Black Budget, a PUBG spin-off extraction shooter, after an internal review concluded the project would not deliver a long-term enjoyable player experience.
First revealed in November 2025, Black Budget was positioned as a major extraction shooter amid surging genre interest following the launches of Arc Raiders and Escape from Tarkov.
Despite conducting multiple Closed Alpha tests, including a major session in June, Developer PUBG Studios concluded the current direction would not meet long-term player expectations.
Black Budget is the second PUBG spin-off canceled, following Blindspot's cancellation in March after two months in early access; PUBG DED.NET development continues.
PUBG Studios will incorporate lessons learned from development and testing into future projects, continuing to explore new gameplay experiences for the PUBG series.
Krafton has officially ended development of the new game 'PUBG: Black Budget' based on PUBG IP. The development team decided that it was difficult to provide a satisfactory game experience and stopped the project as a result of not achieving clear results in the past two alpha tests.
