The large fire that destroyed around 5,000 hectares of pine forest, macchia, low vegetation and grass on the island of Brač has been contained after nine days of fighting, the Fire Operations Center in Split confirmed this morning. Although the fire has been brought under control, firefighters remain at the scene. They are currently cleaning up the area and watering critical areas to prevent a re-ignition.
