Avery Johnson's All-Around Game Leads K-State Past Tulane 31-20 for 3-0 Start
Tulane seeks to erase a sloppy opener and repeat its 2022 road upset, while Kansas State aims to protect a 20-point favorite status.
On Saturday, Kansas State defeated Tulane 31-20 at Bill Snyder Family Stadium, with quarterback Avery Johnson leading the Wildcats to a 3-0 start in the non-conference matchup.
First-Year coach Collin Klein led the Wildcats into this rematch, aiming to overcome the team's 17-10 home loss to Tulane in 2022 at the same Manhattan, Kansas, venue.
Avery Johnson threw for 227 yards and rushed for 152 yards with two scores, while Jay Harris added two rushing touchdowns. Kadin Semonza completed 13 of 26 passes for 165 yards for Tulane.
Kansas State limited Tulane to 260 total yards, though the Wildcats' defense surrendered its first offensive touchdown of the season with 7:55 remaining in the first quarter.
The 3-0 Wildcats open Big 12 play at Cincinnati next Saturday, while Tulane, now 1-2, hosts Southern Mississippi to conclude its non-conference schedule.
