Knicks Try to Clear up ‘Misinformation’ About Rings, Say Employees Will Get Them in 4-6 Weeks
MSG says more than 275 employees will get rings worth over $3.7 million after the team says players received theirs at opening night.
On Saturday, The New York Knicks announced that employees will receive championship rings in about 4-6 weeks, after players received theirs on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2026.
This announcement followed reports that Madison Square Garden used a fake email about championship rings to conduct a phishing simulation, directing staff who clicked to a mandatory cybersecurity class.
MSG acknowledged that using the rings as a lure for the security test was "an unfortunate mistake," noting that while protecting intellectual property was necessary, the campaign choice was incorrect.
An MSG Sports spokesperson confirmed the franchise is gifting more than 275 rings valued at more than $3.7 million to coaches, employees, and staff in recognition of their contributions.
Such delays are common across the NBA, and The New York Knicks emphasized that focus should remain on the team's first championship title since 1973.
The New York Knicks tried to clarify what they claimed was “disinformation” about the delivery of their championship rings, noting on Saturday that employees will receive them in about a month.
