Catching Strays | Mitchell Robinson didn’t watch the Knicks’ ring ceremony
Robinson said he did not watch the ceremony after leaving New York for Boston on a three-year, $47.4 million deal.
On Friday, the New York Knicks visit the Boston Celtics at TD Garden for their first meeting with former center Mitchell Robinson since he signed a three-year, $47.4 million contract in July.
Robinson struggled in his Celtics debut on Tuesday, recording four points and three rebounds in 18 minutes as Boston squandered a 22-point lead in a 121-113 loss to the Detroit Pistons.
While his former teammates received championship rings at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday, Robinson deliberately avoided watching the ceremony, admitting Thursday that his disappointing debut left him "still stuck in my head."
New York guard Josh Hart expects physical battles beneath the basket, telling reporters, "We're still gonna be fighting for rebounds" despite their close friendship and shared championship bond.
Robinson downplayed the emotional reunion, saying the focus is bouncing back from Tuesday's loss rather than facing former teammates. "I'm just here to play basketball," he told reporters Thursday.
