Kingdom Hearts 4 Makes Surprise Appearance During June Nintendo Direct
The teaser showed Sora in combat and a new city, while Nintendo and Square Enix said no release date was announced.
On Tuesday, Nintendo held its showcase, featuring a surprise debut trailer for Kingdom Hearts 4 during the presentation of upcoming Switch and Switch 2 games.
Developed by Square Enix and Disney, the Kingdom Hearts series has historically faced significant delays; Kingdom Hearts 3 took six years to release after its 2013 announcement.
Square Enix also announced The Kingdom Hearts Collection for Switch, launching Oct. 8 for $75 with native play rather than cloud streaming as on the original console.
The trailer showed Sora exploring the mysterious city of Quadratrum, though Disney characters like Donald Duck and Goofy were notably absent from the initial footage.
Kingdom Hearts creator Tetsuya Nomura stated the reveal occurred early, as development remains in early stages with no confirmed release date announced for the game.
