LA Rams Sign Brandon McManus, Their Third Kicker in 2 Weeks
Brandon McManus joins Los Angeles after Blake Grupe’s season-ending ACL tear forced the Rams to change kickers.
On Tuesday, the Los Angeles Rams signed veteran kicker Brandon McManus to replace Blake Grupe, who was placed on injured reserve after suffering a season-ending torn ACL during his Rams debut on Sunday.
McManus becomes the team's third kicker this season, joining a struggling squad that previously cut Harrison Mevis last week following inconsistent performances and a 2-4 record.
The 35-year-old brings 12 years of NFL experience, boasting an 82.0% career conversion rate on field goals and 97.4% on extra points, plus a 2015 Super Bowl title with the Denver Broncos.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Rams worked out McManus and veteran Matt Prater on Tuesday before selecting McManus to address the vacancy created by Grupe's injury.
The team travels to Las Vegas for a Week 7 matchup against the Raiders, seeking to stabilize special teams performance after recent roster turbulence.
