U2 to Headline First-Ever NFL Thanksgiving Eve Game Halftime Show
Netflix said U2 will play halftime as the Rams and Packers meet in the NFL’s first Thanksgiving Eve game.
Netflix announced Tuesday that rock band U2 will headline the halftime show for the NFL's first-ever Thanksgiving Eve game on November 25 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, featuring the Green Bay Packers versus the Los Angeles Rams.
U2, led by lead vocalist Bono, last performed at an NFL game during the 2002 Super Bowl XXXVI halftime show, with this performance arriving ahead of their new album, Carnaval De Luz, due out November 13.
Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos said the band delivers "iconic moments audiences remember forever," as the game holds significant playoff implications with the Packers at 4-2 and Rams at 2-4.
The NFL continues expanding into calendar slots traditionally held by the NBA, building on last year's Christmas Day broadcast that featured a "Holiday Halftime Party" with Snoop Dogg.
Separately, Jay-Z has booked himself for next year's Super Bowl at SoFi Stadium, with his company Roc Nation currently managing halftime show production for the NFL.
