Yuval Belhasan recalls the morning of October 7 and thanks the soldiers who "fought at the outpost until the last moment." According to the commander of the readiness squad, the investigation published by the IDF did not tell the residents of the kibbutz anything new. The IDF determined that it failed in the mission to protect Kibbutz Sufa, and admitted that the activities of the Havashatz stopped the first wave of terrorists.

According to the IDF investigation, the Havashatz single-handedly thwarted the first wave of terrorists who infiltrated from Gaza. Later, the alert squad was joined by armed civilians and army forces who managed to repel the subsequent attacks. Two members of the alert squad were killed, one resident was murdered in his home, and no one was kidnapped. In the battles around the kibbutz, 14 soldiers were killed and 50 were wounded.
