Recall Alert: 462K Kia Tellurides over Fire Risk; Owners Told to Park Outside
Dealers will install an electronic fuse assembly at no cost, and owners of vehicles repaired under recall 24V407 need another fix.
Kia is recalling 462,869 Tellurides spanning 2020 to 2024 model years, according to The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, citing a seat motor defect posing a fire risk while driving or parked.
The defect stems from the front power seat slide cover, where a stuck knob or improper prior repair under SC374 can cause the motor to overheat and run continuously without stopping.
Seven seat fires and 11 cases of motor melting have been reported by the NHTSA, prompting officials to advise Tellurides owners to park vehicles outdoors and away from structures.
Notification letters will be mailed starting Aug 13, directing owners to dealerships where technicians will install an electronic fuse assembly at no cost to prevent continuous motor operation.
Owners can search vehicle identification numbers on the NHTSA website after July 17 to confirm recall status, or contact Kia directly at 800-333-4542 for additional information.
