Kharge Leads Congress Nominations for Rajya Sabha
On Friday, AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge filed his nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha elections at the Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru, seeking re-election to the upper house.
The Election Commission scheduled polls for June 18 to fill four seats, with the Congress party expecting to secure three seats based on sufficient Assembly numbers.
Alongside Kharge, party candidates Pawan Khera and Mansoor Ali Khan submitted their nominations before Karnataka Vidhana Soudha Assembly Secretary Vishalakshi at the venue.
LoP Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi attended the filing in Bengaluru to support the nominees, accompanied by Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
The BJP declared its own nominees for the broader election, including Tai Tagak for Arunachal Pradesh, following the Election Commission's notification for 24 seats across 10 states.
