Key US-Iran negotiator Munir in China with PM Sharif: Pakistan TV
Munir and Sharif are pressing China to support Pakistan’s mediation after April U.S.-Iran talks failed to produce a lasting agreement.
On Monday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Asim Munir arrived in Beijing to meet Chinese leadership regarding ongoing mediation efforts between the United States and Iran.
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir visited Tehran on Friday and Saturday alongside Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, continuing mediation efforts to formally end the Iran war after previous talks failed to produce a permanent resolution.
Sharif began his four-day official visit to China on Saturday in Hangzhou, noting both nations are celebrating 75 years of "glorious" friendship and diplomatic relations established by their founding fathers.
China pledged to work with Pakistan to "make positive contributions to the early restoration of peace and stability in the Middle East," strengthening coordination between the two countries.
Addressing Chinese officials, Sharif stated that "the world is passing through a critical moment," emphasizing Pakistan's sincere role in mediating between the United States and Iran to restore global peace.
