No. 21 SMU Pulls Rank on Boston College, Which Remains Winless in ACC After Road Loss in Dallas
Jennings threw for 160 yards and accounted for three touchdowns as SMU overcame two missed PATs and five sacks.
On Saturday, No. 21 SMU defeated Boston College 25-16 in a defensive struggle at Gerald J. Ford Stadium, with quarterback Kevin Jennings throwing two touchdown passes and rushing for another score.
Despite outgaining the Mustangs 322-218, Boston College struggled with discipline and illness, as 35 to 45 players battled the flu and the Eagles committed 11 penalties for 95 yards.
SMU's defense registered five sacks, with Marques White recording three, and Aakil Washington returned a fumble 34 yards to set up a touchdown, limiting Boston College to 1.8 yards per rush.
Coach Bill O'Brien said, "We weren't a disciplined team today," while quarterback Mason McKenzie acknowledged, "There's not really any positives" from the consecutive conference losses.
Both teams are off next week before playing at home October 17, with Boston College hosting Pittsburgh and the Mustangs facing Virginia in the third of four consecutive home games.
