No. 23 Kentucky Defeats Feisty James Madison
Kentucky used a stronger second half and five players in double figures to beat James Madison and improve to 2-0.
On Friday, No. 23 Kentucky defeated the James Madison Dukes 89-80 at Rupp Arena, improving to 2-0 on the season. Zoom Diallo and Alex Wilkins each scored 16 points for the Wildcats.
Third-Year James Madison head coach Preston Spradlin returned to Rupp Arena, having previously served as a graduate assistant and director of operations for Kentucky from 2009 to 2014.
Trailing 39-39 at halftime, the Wildcats mounted a crucial 11-0 second-half run to reach a 65-56 lead. Kentucky finished with 10 three-pointers despite the tight first-half shooting battle.
Junior guard Kam Williams made his 2026-27 season debut, playing nine minutes after recovering from a foot injury sustained in January. Fans at Rupp Arena gave a standing ovation for his return.
The Wildcats next face Kansas on Tuesday, November 10, at 9:30 p.m. ET at the United Center in Chicago for the Champions Classic.
