Jury Convicts Kent Man of 17 Felonies During Robbery Spree
Prosecutors said Shannon Hartfield recruited juveniles as young as 14 and supplied guns in robberies that led to a 45-year mandatory minimum.
On Tuesday, a jury convicted 26-year-old Kent resident Shannon Hartfield on 17 federal felony counts for an armed robbery spree targeting Puget Sound marijuana dispensaries and banks between December 2021 and June 2022.
Prosecutors described Hartfield as the manager of the operation, recruiting young accomplices—including juveniles as young as 14—via social media and text messages to supply firearms and vehicles.
Shifting focus to financial institutions after targeting Snohomish County dispensaries, the crew attempted to rob a Chase Bank branch at gunpoint and held tellers at Salal Credit Union at gunpoint.
U.S. District Judge Lauren King scheduled sentencing for August 25, where Hartfield faces a mandatory minimum of 45 years in prison due to firearm convictions running consecutively to other sentences.
The jury remained deadlocked on three robbery counts and three firearm-related counts, according to the Department of Justice, resulting in a mistrial for those specific charges.
