Keeping Up Appearances star Anna Dawson dies aged 88
On Saturday, June 27, actress Anna Dawson died peacefully in Kerikeri, New Zealand, at age 88, best known for playing Violet Bucket in the BBC sitcom Keeping Up Appearances.
Throughout her 30-year career, Dawson starred in West End musicals and appeared in 1960s police drama Dixon of Dock Green, plus The Benny Hill Show and The Kenny Everett Video Show before retiring in 1995.
Following the death of her husband John Boulter six months ago, Dawson's passing occurred, with Christ Church Anglican in Russell announcing her as a 'treasured member' of their faith community.
Carol, widow of Only Fools And Horses star John Challis, led tributes to Dawson, who famously played Hyacinth—often described as 'the one with the Mercedes, sauna and room for a pony.'
Dawson's death follows her iconic Keeping Up Appearances co-star Dame Patricia Routledge, who died last year at 96, with both actresses remaining beloved through their television roles.
