Katie Zacharia, Trump's new White House press secretary, makes a brief appearance before reporters
Zacharia’s debut lasted 14 minutes and brought the news that Trump asked U.S. Ambassador Kimberly Guilfoyle to resign.
- On Tuesday, October 13, 2026, new White House Press Secretary Katie Zacharia held her first briefing, announcing that the administration asked U.S. Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle to resign amid allegations of improper conduct.
- President Donald Trump appointed Zacharia to the post last week, succeeding former Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, who resigned in August to focus on her family.
- During the 14-minute session, Zacharia took questions from only three reporters while facing immediate criticism for appearing "visibly nervous" and halting in her delivery.
- The briefing intensified scrutiny of Guilfoyle's alleged solicitation of $100,000 from a Trump donor, while Zacharia faced mockery after accidentally calling her husband "my president" before self-correcting.
- Critics and officials are questioning Zacharia's qualifications as an attorney, with some comparing her brief tenure to former communications director Anthony Scaramucci's 11-day record in 2017.
