Karpowership Expands Global Fleet with New 300 MW "Sea Lion" Class Powerships
Each vessel will deliver 300 MW and use three gas turbines, with delivery scheduled between January and May 2028, the company said.
On Tuesday, Karpowership began construction on four new Sea Lion class Powerships at the HSG Sungdong shipyard in South Korea, marking a steel-cutting ceremony that reinforces the company's global fleet expansion.
The project addresses growing global demand for fast, flexible power solutions as countries increasingly require dependable electricity to strengthen energy security and support economic growth.
Each 136-metre-long vessel delivers 300 MW of installed capacity using three high-efficiency gas turbines in combined-cycle configuration, providing greater fuel efficiency than conventional land-based thermal generation.
The four Powerships feature a plug-and-play design enabling electricity supply in less than 30 days, with vessels scheduled for rolling delivery between January and May 2028.
Operating a fleet of 45 Powerships delivering over 8,000 MW of capacity with more than 25 years of experience, Karpowership also manages an integrated LNG value chain supported by 11 LNG vessels.
