- Honoring the singer's global cultural influence, organizers cited her redefined status as a global artist and her history-making performance as the first Latina artist to headline Coachella in April.
- With more than 128 billion career streams and over 310 RIAA Platinum certifications, Karol G, 35, has also expanded her Viajando Por El Mundo Tropitour to 63 stadium shows worldwide.
- Last presented to Whitney Houston in 2009, this honor recognizes "an artist whose music and cultural influence has resonated globally," making Karol G part of an elite group of recipients.
