Woman Travels From Georgia to Kansas to Vote After Her Absentee Ballot Never Arrives
The voter said she requested an absentee ballot that never arrived and was told voting in person was her only option.
Jesse Alexander flew from Atlanta, Georgia, to Overland Park, Kansas, on Early Tuesday to vote at Antioch Church after her absentee ballot from the Johnson County Election Office failed to arrive.
Because her absentee ballot never arrived, officials informed Alexander, who is temporarily working in Atlanta, that voting in person was her only option.
Alexander traveled more than 800 miles, but weather delayed her flight from Atlanta, and she arrived in Kansas City, Missouri, at 2:29 a.m. on Early Tuesday.
After casting her vote at Antioch Church on Early Tuesday, Alexander returned to Atlanta that night, completing the round trip despite the early morning arrival.
Alexander's efforts occurred during the midterm elections, which included contests for Senate, House, and governor seats across Kansas on Early Tuesday.
