When they fled North Korea, Yu Hyuk at the age of 13 and Kim Seok at the age of 19, could they have imagined that they would be among the first defectors to enter the ultra-standard K-pop industry? Yet, at the age of 25, they both started in the boy band 1Verse (pronounced "universe") which gave its first showcase in Seoul on 18 July. The group, where no South Korean is listed, deliberately wants to be multicultural and international.
