Justice chancellor: Estonia's car tax law unconstitutional

The Motor Vehicle Tax Act and the Traffic Act do not include provisions that take into account cases of property destruction or other instances of vehicles being taken out of use. Chancellor of Justice Ülle Madise announced on social media that she believes the car tax is unconstitutional and has submitted a proposal for an amendment to the Riigikogu. Madise is concerned that people will still have to pay the tax if their car is destroyed.
