  • On Wednesday morning, a domestic worker arrived at the Newark home for work and discovered the property broken into with the family and vehicle missing. This triggered a massive search involving multiple police units and private security partners.
  • Suspects allegedly tied up the victims and drove 200km to Melmoth. Police stated that after demanding banking details, they "shot and killed three victims" while "the other four victims were brutally stabbed to death."
  • Investigations led police to Hlomendlini and Dendetu areas, where three suspects were arrested; one reportedly worked for the family. Officers recovered 11 cellphones and a firearm during the arrests.
  • The suspects, aged 21, 26, and 28, will appear in the KwaDukuza Magistrate's Court on Friday, April 24. Provincial Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi commended the swift arrests and instructed officers to ensure justice is served.
