Once again, the court has blocked the return of asylum seekers to Italy. In three cases, the Aliens Chamber in Utrecht ruled that there is "a real risk" that the asylum seekers' fundamental rights will be violated if they are forced to return to Italy, because the reception facilities there are not up to standard.
The Netherlands is not allowed to return three asylum seekers to Italy for the time being. This is what the Immigration Chamber of the Central Netherlands District Court in Utrecht has determined. According to the judges, Minister Bart van den Brink of Asylum and Migration has not sufficiently demonstrated that returned asylum seekers in Italy are now assured of shelter, food and running water.
