Joy and heartbreak as London Marathon 2027 ballot results announced
Results are being emailed to more than 1.3 million applicants as the first two-day marathon expands capacity to 100,000 runners.
London Marathon Events began releasing ballot results on Thursday, July 9, notifying applicants of their status for the 2027 London Marathon.
The 2027 race will be the first 'Double' marathon, spanning April 24 and 25, after a record-breaking 1,338,544 people entered the public ballot.
Hugh Brasher, CEO of London Marathon Events, confirmed 100,000 participants will compete across the two days; 45,000 runners on Saturday and 55,000 on Sunday.
For those unsuccessful in the ballot, charity spots remain available, which for 2027 uniquely include the opportunity to run on the Saturday.
The National Autistic Society serves as the 2027 official charity partner, following the 2026 event where Marie Curie raised more than £2.3 million.
