Josh Addo-Carr at Risk of NRL Axing After Alleged Cocaine Test Failure
The club has notified the National Rugby League integrity unit and is providing welfare support as police await forensic results.
On Friday night, Parramatta Eels star Josh Addo-Carr allegedly tested positive for cocaine during a random police roadside stop on Enmore Road in Sydney.
This alleged test failure occurs two years after Addo-Carr produced a positive roadside cocaine result while playing for the Canterbury Bulldogs, which led to his departure, though he denied taking illegal substances.
The Parramatta Eels notified the NRL Integrity Unit and are providing welfare support to Josh and his family. Crown Sports International stated Addo-Carr and his management are aware of reports concerning the alleged incident.
If the second alleged breach is verified, Addo-Carr could face a ban of up to 12 games under the NRL's Illicit and Hazardous Drugs Policy and potential contract termination.
Kangaroos coach Kevin Walters warned "this may have some ramifications," noting that Addo-Carr's participation in this year's World Cup and the Ashes series is now at risk.
