John Swinney Refuses to Apologise to 'Bullied' SNP Whistleblowers
Swinney rejected claims that Sturgeon bullied whistleblowers as former SNP finance committee members said they were blocked from basic information.
On Thursday, Scottish Conservative leader Russell Findlay accused First Minister John Swinney of leading an "SNP cover-up" during Holyrood questions, alleging Swinney and former First Minister Nicola Sturgeon bullied whistleblowers into silence.
In 2021, Audit Committee members Cynthia Guthrie and Allison Graham resigned after claiming they were "stonewalled" and bullied while raising concerns about the party's finances, which they described as "chaotic" and "incompetent."
Jailed earlier this week for embezzling more than £400,000 over 12 years, former SNP chief executive Peter Murrell operated while Sturgeon warned members to be "very careful" about suggesting financial problems.
Swinney has rejected calls for an inquiry, claiming the party currently has "strong governance in place" and that a four-year police investigation has already provided necessary answers.
Guthrie recently alleged Swinney and Sturgeon were "culpable" for misleading SNP members, while Government Minister Kirsten Oswald faces separate bullying complaints from whistleblowers.
