Former Wisconsin Guard John Blackwell Withdraws From NBA Draft, Will Play at Duke Next Season
Blackwell averaged 19.1 points and 5.1 rebounds last season, helping Wisconsin reach the NCAA Tournament for a third straight year.
- On Friday, Wisconsin transfer John Blackwell announced he is withdrawing from the 2026 NBA Draft to play for Duke, NBA Insider Chris Haynes reported.
- Following the scouting combine, Blackwell's draft stock dipped after measurements showed a barefoot height of 6'3 1/4" and a wingspan of 6'2 1/4", the shortest recorded at the event.
- Blackwell told The Field of 68's Jeff Goodman he wanted to play point guard, noting, "I'm 6-4, so I'm naturally a point guard," after averaging 19.1 points and 5.1 rebounds over 34 games.
- At Duke, Blackwell joins a backcourt featuring senior Caleb Foster and sophomore Cayden Boozer, positioning him to prove his value in the college ranks next season.
- Blackwell had until May 27 to withdraw and maintain NCAA eligibility, a deadline also facing Kentucky's Malachi Moreno and Michigan State's Jeremy Fears Jr., who have yet to decide.
