Jodie Foster Is Convinced F1 'Was Made by AI'
Foster said the Brad Pitt racing film looked machine-made as she discussed whether artificial intelligence could replace actors and writers.
On Tuesday, Academy Award-winning actress Jodie Foster proposed at the Aspen Ideas Festival that the Brad Pitt racing movie F1 appeared to be crafted by AI, though she emphasized she did not say this disparagingly.
During a talk titled 'Who Owns the Future of Hollywood' with Sony Pictures CEO Michael Lynton, Foster argued that AI is changing the business, potentially replacing actors and writers while automating crowd scenes.
While noting that F1 earned $634 million globally, Foster acknowledged that AI tools can assist with 'small helpful things' like pre-visualization, despite concerns about technology reducing job opportunities.
Foster suggested unions should intervene to ensure fair compensation, proposing that studios "use my actor 20 times, but you're going to pay him 20 times," and noted her own use of AI in Private Life.
Meanwhile, SAG-AFTRA has endorsed the Trump administration's AI policy framework, which calls for intellectual property protections and expanding AI workforce development, including a 30-day review period for new models before release.
