Robert Mitchum’s Lookalike Son James Dies Aged 84
Jim Mitchum appeared in about three dozen films and TV shows and managed his parents' quarter horse ranch after his acting career.
On Sept. 20, James 'Jim' Mitchum, age 84, died at his Skull Valley, Arizona ranch, a family spokesperson said, with his wife Pamela K. Smith and their poodle at his side.
Born May 8, 1941, in Los Angeles, James 'Jim' Mitchum made his film debut at age eight and was cast as Robin Doolin at 16 in the cult classic Thunder Road with his father Robert Mitchum.
He appeared in more than 30 films and TV projects, including 11 films and TV roles in the 1960s and later credits such as Moonrunners and The Victors, retiring in 1994.
Survivors include his third wife Pamela K. Smith, sons Will and Brian, daughters Caitlin Ann and Ana, stepdaughter Tiffany, grandchildren Jack, Wagner, Paige, Winnry, and sister Petrine, with family saying his life will be celebrated privately.
After Robert Mitchum's death in July 1997, Jim continued breeding racing Quarter Horses at the Skull Valley ranch and developed premium moonshine and Robert's Rye in recent years.
American actor James Mitchum has died at the age of 84. The eldest son of the legendary Robert, he appeared in a number of films alongside his father, interestingly enough, in one of them he played his younger brother.
