Jaylen Brown says he has no beef with former Celtics teammate Jayson Tatum
Tatum said the former Celtics teammates should talk privately as Brown downplayed the dispute and credited Boston’s title run.
- On Friday, Boston Celtics star forward Jayson Tatum publicly rejected any animosity with former teammate Jaylen Brown, dismissing comparisons to the Shaquille O'Neal-Kobe Bryant feud and urging fans to celebrate their 2024 championship together.
- Following Tatum's video claiming he was 'caught off guard' by the trade, Brown replied with a 'cap' emoji on social media, signaling disbelief. The split stemmed from a front-office decision to cut one of two $300 million contracts from payroll.
- Responding to reporters Saturday, Brown noted 'there's no beef' but suggested 'there might be a little lamb chops and some gravy.' He sarcastically commended Tatum's public relations team, fueling ongoing media speculation.
- Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla downplayed the friction Sunday, focusing on the pair's nine years of shared accomplishments. The teams meet November 10 in Philadelphia for their first matchup as opponents.
- Tatum emphasized that 'a conversation would solve and put out a lot of fires' between the former co-stars. Both players are focusing on their respective teams as the narrative persists throughout the 2026-27 season.
