- Reflecting on the victory, captain Doan said "I'm grateful for him" regarding Nakamura's assist, while manager Moriyasu called the match a "difficult battle against New Zealand."
- Japan faces Brazil and Paraguay in Singapore this November before the Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia, which represents the final tournament for manager Moriyasu.
