Man Arrested in Connection with Jacksonville Attack on DoorDash Driver
Investigators say tips from the public helped identify Stanley Cornelius Shockley, who remains jailed without bond on a charge carrying intent to kill.
- On Monday, Aug. 10, the Onslow County Sheriff's Office arrested Stanley Cornelius Shockley, 44, in connection with the Aug. 1 assault of DoorDash driver Christen Phillips following a search warrant at 637 Shamrock Drive.
- After Phillips honked at an intersection, Shockley allegedly followed her to Shamrock Drive, where he attacked her with a bat when she exited her vehicle to deliver food.
- Phillips reported suffering "multiple skull fractures and brain bleeds and blood and cerebral fluid draining from my left ear," later driving herself to Onslow Memorial Hospital for emergency treatment.
- Shockley remains held without bond at the Onslow County Detention Center, facing charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
- Sheriff Chris Thomas credited public tips with aiding the investigation, while a DoorDash spokesperson stated, "We're grateful to law enforcement for making an arrest and will continue to assist.
