Air pollution in some Lithuanian cities has exceeded permissible norms - the highest concentration of particulate matter was recorded in Kaunas, Kėdainiai and Jonava. Residents complain of a pungent stench, a musty smell and are comforted by the fact that sometimes it even becomes difficult to breathe. According to specialists, air quality is worsened by intense car traffic and residents heating their homes with firewood and pellets.
