Polish track and field athletes won second place at the European Team Championships in Madrid. The Polish team collected 405 points, second only to the Italian team (431.5 points). Third place went to Germany with 397 points. This is the seventh time in history that Poles have stood on the podium of this prestigious event.
Czech athletes took 11th place at the European Team Championships and, despite a weakened lineup, they easily remained in the elite division. They earned 283 points, a safe 52-point lead over the relegation zone of 14th. Italy defended their title, collecting 431.5 points, beating Poland by 26 points. Germany finished third.
The Dutch athletics team finished fourth at the European Athletics Championships for countries in Madrid. The team with top athletes such as Femke Bol, Lieke Klaver and Jessica Schilder had to leave the bronze to Germany on the final day. The European title went to Italy and Poland won silver.
