The funeral of the PIME missionary, a pioneer of dialogue with the Church in China after the persecution of Mao, took place today. From his last book, the story of one of his first trips to the Chinese capital and the reception in a house where some elderly people who had been forced to leave religious life lived: “They understood that I was a priest, they asked me to bless some sacred images: I greeted them moved.”
