Italian Musetti withdraws from French Open due to thigh injury
On Wednesday, Italian Lorenzo Musetti announced his withdrawal from the French Open following medical consultations after his match on Tuesday.
Musetti struggled physically during his round-of-16 defeat against Casper Ruud at the Italian Open in Rome on Tuesday, necessitating immediate medical examinations.
Medical examinations revealed a rectus femoris injury requiring several weeks of rest, which Musetti described on Instagram as "extremely difficult" to accept.
The 24-year-old will miss Hamburg and Roland Garros, removing him from the Grand Slam field during a critical phase of his career.
His absence adds to a growing list of high-profile absentees at Roland Garros, including two-times champion Carlos Alcaraz, Dane Holger Rune, and Briton Jack Draper.
Italian tennis player Lorenzo Musetti will not be competing at Roland Garros. The 24-year-old world number 10 reached the semi-finals of the Paris Grand Slam tournament last year but is struggling with a thigh injury.
