First Nation leaders call for closure of Thunder Bay Jail
The Thunder Bay Jail, built 100 years ago, has long been criticized for overcrowding and inhumane conditions. Following a coroner’s inquest into the death of Kevin Mamakwa at the jail June 2, 2020, First Nation leaders are renewing calls to shut down the aging facility.
