Anthropic Confirms Claude Mythos-Class Models Will Roll Out to the Public
Anthropic said the models will reach all customers after earlier security concerns delayed a broader launch.
Anthropic confirmed Thursday that it plans to release Mythos-class models to all customers in the coming weeks after making "swift progress" on developing "stronger safety safeguards."
The company previously limited access to Mythos via Project Glasswing, citing major "security" risks and fearing the model's capabilities could be exploited to find vulnerabilities in critical systems.
Alongside this, Anthropic released an upgraded Claude Opus described as a "modest but tangible improvement," though researchers note Mythos remains 30 times as expensive to run as previous models.
Darren Williams, founder and CEO of cybersecurity firm BlackFog, said staging the release showed "right instincts," while Jake Williams of IANS Research noted Mythos's high cost limits utility to nation-state actors.
Anthropic also plans to expand Project Glasswing with government partners on Friday while Bloomberg News reported the company is discussing going public as soon as this fall amid a valuation exceeding $900 billion.
