The monkey was handed over to inspectors from the Nature and Parks Authority and then to the Israeli monkey sanctuary. A resident of central Israel was arrested on suspicion of involvement and released under restrictive conditions
The wild animal was discovered during a raid by police and security forces, in cooperation with the Nature and Parks Authority, on a house in Jericho. A Ramla resident, in her 30s, was detained for questioning and released at the conclusion. Police said she will be summoned for further questioning on suspicion of hunting and illegal possession of a wild animal.
Police forces, the IDF and the Nature and Parks Authority raided a house in the city of Jericho last night (Tuesday), after receiving information that a monkey was being kept there illegally.
