Israeli military says Hezbollah launched three projectiles towards northern Israel

Israel said Hezbollah’s launches caused no casualties as it ordered residents from more than two dozen southern Lebanon towns to flee.

  • On Sunday, two drones suspected to have been launched by Hezbollah from Lebanon struck northern Israel near the border, though the Israeli military reported no casualties from the aerial impacts.
  • Hours before the strikes, Israel issued forced displacement orders for 29 locations—25 in Nabatieh district and 4 in Sidon district—instructing residents to flee north of the Zahrani River immediately.
  • Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich urged retaliatory strikes on Dahiyeh, a Beirut stronghold, with Ben-Gvir demanding "a missile should be fired for every drone" sent by Hezbollah.
  • Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has previously warned Israel would strike Dahiyeh if Hezbollah targeted northern communities, and Smotrich stated the recent fire "tests the Dahiyeh equation," calling to implement it "with determination and force."
  • Amid anxiety regarding a potential Iran-US deal, there is concern Lebanon might be excluded, as occurred in April when Israel struck more than 100 locations in 10 minutes, Pett noted.
