Israeli airstrike kills family of six in Gaza, medics say
The military said it was targeting a Hamas militant as Gaza medics reported the strike killed six members of one family.
On Tuesday, an Israeli airstrike in Gaza City's Sabra neighborhood killed Firas Al-Masri, his wife Salsabeel, and their four children, health officials reported. The strike set the family house ablaze.
The Israeli military confirmed the strike, stating it targeted a Hamas militant and is investigating the results. Israel says it is targeting militants, though Hamas does not usually disclose its losses.
These deaths swell a toll of more than 1,150 Palestinians killed by Israeli attacks since the October ceasefire. Gaza health officials report Israel's offensive has killed more than 73,000 Palestinians overall.
Nearly all of Gaza's 2 million people now live on a tiny strip of land along the coast in makeshift tents or damaged buildings under Hamas control. Humanitarian conditions remain dire.
In separate strikes since Friday, the Israeli military killed three militants from Hamas and Islamic Jihad, two of whom participated in the October 7, 2023 attack on Israel. Four Israeli soldiers have been killed by militants in Gaza over the same period.
