ISRAEL, JUN 5 – The bodies of two Israeli-American hostages killed in the Hamas attack on Oct. 7, 2023, were recovered from southern Gaza after nearly 608 days, Israeli military said.
- Israeli forces recovered and returned the bodies of Judith Weinstein Haggai and Gadi Haggai, two U.S.-Israeli hostages killed in the Oct. 7, 2023 Hamas attack in Nir Oz.
- The couple was ambushed during Hamas militants' cross-border raid that triggered widespread violence and hostage-taking on Oct. 7, after which their bodies were held in Gaza for over 600 days.
- Weinstein Haggai, aged 70, called emergency services reporting she and her husband had been shot before their deaths were confirmed by Israeli intelligence in December 2023.
- Their daughter Iris publicly thanked the Israeli military, FBI, and U.S. and Israeli governments for support and called for the release of all 56 remaining hostages still held in Gaza.
