- On Saturday, Israel's military said it launched airstrikes in Gaza against Hamas militants after a gunman crossed into Israeli-held territory and fired at soldiers, testing the Oct. 10 ceasefire.
- The Oct. 10 ceasefire had eased fighting, pulled back Israeli troops and increased aid flows, but both sides have repeatedly accused each other of violating the truce agreed six weeks ago, complicating mediator efforts.
