On 2 April, Israeli far-right minister Itamar Ben Gvir went back to the mosques' Esplanade to pray, reviving the anger of Muslims shouting at provocation. This visit, the last in a long series, was seen as a desire to change the status quo established in 1967 around the third holy place of Islam. Since then, many extremist Jews have come to visit and disrupt the calm of the place.
