Man guilty of terror offences after returning from Pakistan with 'bomb-making manual and ISIS execution videos'
Jurors found Shuja Gibraeel Mohsin guilty after police found a bomb-making manual and execution videos on his devices.
On Friday, a jury at the Old Bailey found Shuja Gibraeel Mohsin, 20, of Mitcham, South West London, guilty of possessing and disseminating terrorist material following a two-week trial.
Counter terror officers stopped Mohsin at Heathrow Airport in January 2024 as he returned from Pakistan, where Scotland Yard seized his phone and USB containing a bomb-making manual and links to Taliban, Hamas, and Daesh.
Prosecutors secured convictions on two counts of disseminating terrorist publications under the Terrorism Act, with evidence showing Mohsin shared Islamic State execution videos with an online contact.
Commander Helen Flanagan, Head of Counter Terror Policing for London, said, 'Our investigation showed Mohsin was being drawn into extremist and terrorist material and ideologies from when he was only 14 or 15 years old.' Sentencing is set for August 14.
'It's vital parents and carers are aware of what children are doing on the internet,' Commander Flanagan said, urging families to visit the ACT Early website for guidance on recognizing and reporting radicalization.
