Is your Porsche Taycan too slow at the Nürburgring? You need this Manthey Kit.
The kit cuts the Taycan Turbo GT’s Nordschleife lap time to 6:55.553 and adds tunable downforce for track-focused drivers.
Porsche factory driver Lars Kern set a new Nürburgring Nordschleife lap record of 6:55.553 in the Taycan Turbo GT equipped with the new Manthey Kit.
Manthey Racing, a Porsche-majority-owned team, designed this comprehensive upgrade to enhance track performance, marking the first such kit for an electric Porsche.
The Manthey Kit enables 1,631 lbs of downforce at 192 mph, while powertrain optimizations increase maximum discharge current to 1,300 amps and standard system output to 804 hp.
Beating the previous record by 12 seconds, the vehicle establishes the Taycan Turbo GT as the fastest production-spec electric executive car to circle the 12.9-mile circuit.
Amid intensifying record competition from brands like Xiaomi and BYD, industry observers suggest the need for standardized definitions of 'production' vehicles given extensive modifications involved.
For several years now, Chinese manufacturers have been venturing into super-fast sports cars and sending them onto the Nürburgring. Not without success: the title of fastest electric production car has been claimed multiple times by Chinese brands. Until now, that is, as Porsche strikes back with a nearly four-second faster Taycan Turbo GT with a Manthey Kit.
