Is ‘Lord of the Flies’ Returning for Season 2?
On Monday, Netflix released the first TV adaptation of William Golding's 1954 novel 'Lord of the Flies,' developed and written by Jack Thorne, bringing the seven-decade-old story to U.S. audiences.
The four-part series follows British schoolboys stranded on an island after a plane crash, exploring themes of morality, power, and societal collapse central to Golding's original work.
Thorne structures each episode around one of four central characters: Piggy , Ralph , Simon , and Jack , deepening viewers' connection to each boy.
Director Mark Munden's stylized production was hailed as a 'critical smash-hit' during its U.K. release earlier this year, drawing praise for its polished, cinematic approach to the classic.
Thorne said the series poses "delicious questions" about masculinity rather than providing easy answers, framing it as a psychological study of war-era British youth and their inherited trauma.
