Ireland Head Coach Farrell Extends Contract Until 2031
On Friday, the Irish Rugby Football Union announced that Head Coach Andy Farrell signed a contract extension keeping him through the 2031 Rugby World Cup, ending speculation about his future.
Farrell replaced Joe Schmidt in 2019 and has since led Ireland to two Six Nations titles, including a Grand Slam in 2023, establishing him as a proven international coach.
The 51-year-old also led the British and Irish Lions to a 2-1 series victory in Australia last year, demonstrating the coaching track record that earned him World Rugby's 2023 coach of the year.
Guiding Ireland beyond the Rugby World Cup quarter-finals remains a primary objective for Farrell, as Ireland has lost in eight of the tournament's 10 editions.
Farrell stated, "There is a real confidence in the system that has been built across the provinces and age-grade programmes," signaling optimism for the 2027 and 2031 tournaments ahead.
