US and Iranian forces resume attacks in Middle East, piercing relative calm
A few days of relative calm in the Middle East came to an end as the US military intercepted a “surprise attack” by Iran, according to US Central Command. Follow along for live updates.
"As long as the threats against the Islamic Republic of Iran persist and the illegal and perverse actions of U.S. forces against our interests continue, the resistance will continue," the statement added.
This is the first attack since last Friday, when the parties stopped the strikes, the attack threatens to break the pause in the exchange of strikes and may force Trump to decide to resume hostilities.
